Vintage Visuals is a company founded in 2024 by a team of camera technicians. It’s based in Barcelona, Spain. Our aim is to help cinematographers and productions experiencing different ways to shoot their footage, and exploring the analog formats in the simplest and most efficient ways. In order to do that, we offer a wide variety of analog camera options which range from early 80’s to mid 2000’s.
All of our cameras have been digitally converted to record a digital (yet analog looking) ProRes format straigh into SD cards. Each camcorder has been refurbished to convert each and every one of them for a digital workflow process. All of our cameras can also be powered using V-Lock 12V batteries (which are a standard in almost every set world-wide).
Our camera technicians have put great effort into disassembling and re-rigging each camera to meet present-day production standards.
Each package includes a digitally converted camera, lens, recording monitor, 4x SD cards, card reader and all the necessary cables and spare cables. All you’ll need to power up the camera is a set of V-Lock batteries (which we can also rent). Every single camera comes carefully encased in a pelican-style case with all its accessories and necessary parts, and each has a quick user guide included.
All our cameras use 12V V-Lock batteries. Most camera departments on nowadays productions already carry lots of these batteries, but if you need some more, Vintage Visuals can provide them at a small additional charge.
All the footage is recorded to our already included SD cards. The SD (Standard Definition) signal is converted to digital SDI and then recorded on our SD cards.
By default, the signal will be recorded at 25fps with 703x476 lines, but some of our cameras offer options to modify the framerate and the resolution recorded (although that may result in some squeezed signal and weird interlaced effects) The Blackmagic video recorder included can record any resolution, from 525i onward, and can also record 59,94i NTSC framerate in the following codecs: ProRes 422 HQ, ProRes 422, ProRes 422 LT, DNxHD 220x, DNxHD 145, DNxHD 45, DNxHD 220x MXF, DNxHD 145 MXF, DNxHD 45 MXF, DNxHR HQX MXF, DNxHR HQX, DNxHR SQ, DNxHR LB, DNxHR SQ MXF, DNxHR LB MXF On a side note, do ALWAYS REMEMBER pressing the record button on the Blackmagic recorder!
All of our cameras include 4x 32GB SD cards and one USB-C card reader. Every 32GB card will record 32 minutes of Apple ProRes HQ footage. Please don’t use any different or larger capacity SD cards, as many may not be supported by the Monitor-Recorder.
Absolutely. All of our cameras include 4x 12V D-TAP power outputs, and all of them are equipped with either 19mm or 15mm Baseplates, so you can rig them to any existing tripod with an Arri- style dovetail.
The fact that all of our cameras can be powered with V-Locks also adds the possibility to use the batterie’s 12V D-Tap output as a power option.
Besides that, some of our cameras have 3/8’’ and 1/4’’ threaded holes, and even cheeseplates for you to rig any accessory needed.
Yes. You can output the recorded signal through either SDI or HDI via cross conversion from our recording monitors. Although, be aware that most video video transmitters such as Teradek, Hollyland, Parallinx and DJI may not accept any resolution below 720p. In order to sort that out,
please modify the converter’s resolution output or use a Decimator kind of device to upscale the signal.
Despite the fact that these cameras are meant to shoot, and not to be used as a prop, bear in mind that most of the cameras are modified with modern camera accessories, so any of our cameras in the background might do the trick as set props, but in close distances you’ll notice that they’re not in their original shape.
If you need any camera to be used as a set prop, contact us and we’ll try to set you with one of our spare camera bodies.
