Right after the invention of the first 3CCD cameras by the Fairchild corporation for broadcast and scientific investigations, JVC came out with their own line of ENG (Electronic News Gathering) cameras in 1981. Models such as the KY-1900, KY-210 and KY-310 make good use of three staticon tubes (one for each color of the RGB spectrum) which render great colors plus a distinctive and unique comet trail on the highlights.
Back in the time this camera was used for studio and broadcast TV shows, and it quickly became an industry standard due to the image quality and the sturdiness of its full aluminum red painted
body.
The camera has been converted to output a digital ProRes signal which can be recorded into an SD card, and it can also be powered with regular V-Lock batteries.
